General Artist's Statement:
I am a filmmaker-photographer who emphasizes color and visual meaning. I enjoy implementing color theory, power dynamics, and symbolism into every shot and photo to create a subliminal narrative. My work tends to feature elements of mystery or macabre, often juxtaposing two opposing themes or ideas. The information in my work is primarily conveyed visually, allowing the audience to fill in the blanks by immersing themselves in the world I’ve created. My work tends to feature women, often portraying the femme fatale archetype. I enjoy utilizing fashion and styling to develop a character, often taking inspiration from renowned fashion photographers Irving Penn and Annie Leibovitz. I have studied different film and storytelling principles intensely, including the show-don’t-tell principle, bomb theory, the emotional needle theory, and more. I take heavy inspiration from directors like Tim Burton, Alfred Hitchcock, and Jamie Rice.
With each project, I take what I have previously learned and I push it further. My work stands out amongst other work because I am not just a filmmaker or a photographer, I use both to influence the other. I create ideas and narratives that excite me, and the passion I put into my art is apparent with every detail of every project.
