Overview:
“Whispered Wings” is a micro-short film made entirely out of scanned salted paper prints. Every individual frame was printed and hand-altered with colored pencils to create a piece of media that is unlike anything currently existing. The story follows a girl who faces distress but is saved by love, represented as a cartoon owl.

Artist's Statement:
As someone with limited experience in salted paper printing, I set myself up for a great challenge when committing to making a short film entirely from scanned-in salted paper prints, something that had never been done before. I further challenged myself by hand-altering every individual frame with color to visually tell my story.
The short revolves around a representation of my mother. Before making anything, I knew I wanted to make something connected to her. My mother has been my best friend throughout most of my life, always available if ever I need to talk or sort out a situation. She has dealt with so much and remained resilient all while being a caring mother and wife. She is the strongest person I have ever known, and I hold so much love and respect for all that she does. The depiction of her as an owl comes from her owl tattoo, a screech owl representing her and her family. The shades of purple and pink not only represent her warmth and love but also physically represent the dyed hair she has sported for most of my life.
The final story depicts me, contempt, before a factor out of my control, represented by the death’s head hawk moth and the falling rose petals, has me falling into some sort of anxiety or trouble, represented by the rain and the desaturated dress. My mother, the owl, flies in to help me out of it, leaving me filled with love and happiness, represented by the pink and yellow in the final dress. I left the story purposefully symbolic and relatively vague because I wanted it to feel personal to me while still having meaning to different audiences. Though the basic structure of happy-sad-happy is unchanged from person to person, the different colored elements may symbolize different things.
The short is a product of hours upon hours of hard work over the course of three months, but the care and craft are evident in every paused frame and in every detail. I am very proud of the unique piece of art that I have created, and I hope it serves as a source of inspiration for any artist who is willing to take on a challenge and create something completely original in the future.

The effects of an eating disorder on a relationship play out over an intense dinner.
This film is a combination of Aashish and Kaylee's separate personal experiences in additional elements from other personal stories which have been shared with us. Our goal is to spread awareness about eating disorders and we feel our film is a new take and perspective into the daily lives of someone experiencing an eating disorder. As you can see, the film is finished!! We are so excited to share it with others!

Overview:
This is a PSA I made in high school about a lighter form of bullying that many kids tend to overlook. It shows that words can hurt and encourages kids to think about how they treat their friends and peers and turn fake smiles into real ones. This project means a lot to me because each example of being laughed at or talked down to is based on a real example from my life at the time.

Overview:
"Meet Your Match" is a documentary I created during my senior year of high school. To film this, I and the other two students working on this film were granted opportunities to film simulation fire and smoke as well as the inside of the fire station and garage.
I also used a smoke machine to get some extra B-roll and a few clips from a structure fire video my teacher made.

This was my first big project and I am extremely happy with how it turned out.
